Significant investments are being made in support of hydrogen as an energy source for mobility, energy storage medium and process gas industries. Hydrogen is gaining considerable traction for applications in industries where carbon emissions are difficult to abate—like petrochemicals, steel production, and industrial heating. Because of its strong resistance to corrosion, high mechanical strength, and excellent low temperature properties, stainless steel will play an important role in the infrastructure to support hydrogen. Stainless steel is the material of choice for every step of the hydrogen supply chain, from production to transportation and storage.
